    You had 3 bent pushrods on 1 cylinder…?

    My question is about the push rod bending.

    There was an event that happened in your engine that caused that, whatever that was.

    That means that at a certain point in time the camshaft was pushing the push rod to activate the injector and it was under so much pressure that it actually bent the push rod.

    I suppose there could be different reasons for that but that's not supposed to happen. Did someone recently set the overhead?

    And if that incident coincided with you using a lot of oil then you need to get into it and fix it whatever it is now. If the oil pressure is low get that truck to the shop right away because if it drops further, you're going to have much much larger problems.

    Just as a quick diagnostic you could take a heat gun and check each exh and see which one is cold. Do you know which one bent the push rod?

    And I agree an injector can wipe a cylinder out. Idling is not your friend.

    And just for anybody reading this, it is better to spend $500 or $1,000 on a little generator than let that big giant engine idle. The generator is cheap to replace- the engine not so much.

    I hope you tear into it soon and let us know what happened.

    @pup any ideas?

    #3 cylinder

    yeah everything was running smooth, very low oil consumption, maybe 1 qt every two months(around 5k miles)

    after the bent rod, sound on the cylinder, it started to consume the oil

    Slightly off topic, but is it possible something came loose in the combustion chamber while the engine brake circuit was engaged, causing the bent pushrod on the injector?

    No, not likely.

    But a foreign object that passed through the injector screen could cause it. Injector apparently bound up for some reason…

    With the engine running put your hand under the crankcase vent tube. If it’s blowing fairly hard you have an internal problem….
