I love the NBA, and love to talk anything NBA, but you know good and well that members on this site couldn't care less about professional sports, ESPECIALLY NFL and NBA lolololol

I used to watch professional sports, then when everything shut down for Covid I realized there were better ways to spend my time. What little I’ve seen of the NBA it appears to be nothing like it was, almost doesn’t resemble the game at all. Traveling, double dribbling, and launching 40ft shots seems to be the norm these days. People find entertainment from that and that’s great, just no longer for me. What I don’t agree with is how organizations like the NBA and the NFL rely on tax payer subsidies when they should be footing their own bills. Sort of ridiculous for you and and I to make sure their arenas and stadiums get built so that people can make millions of dollars to play a game.

That's kind of the norm all the way around, not just in pro sports. Thats the American way. The working class gets taxed to benefit the wealthy. Some of it people turn a blind eye to, and in the case of pro sports, many people find it annoying. Politicians do the same thing. Nobody cares. Mega churches do the same thing, and people give willingly because they believe it's their ticket to eternal salvation. Truck stops butt #### truckers for reserved parking, and drivers willingly pay it. Scams all over.

Thing is I can choose to donate to a church, I can choose to pay to park a truck. And I know our government is a scam. I don’t think we should subsidize stadiums and arenas for the use of multimillion dollar corporations and their paid athletes. That’s all.

You make a valid point. My point is that its a similar scam.....rape the working class unnecessarily to benefit the wealthy. In turn, the taxes aren't even noticeable for those arenas. It's usually pennies on the dollar tourist taxes over a period of like 30 years. I can say one thing.....pro athletes salaries are the only salaries that have kept up with inflation lol

On the subsidies scam front. NBA was big in Seattle with the SuperSonics, but the NBA thought they could scam more subsidies by moving the team to Oklahoma. They figured they could double down on subsidies by making Seattle a premier WNBA town. Even in the city of Lesbarus they couldn't find enough people to watch that crap to pay the bills of the WNBA.

NBA wanted a new arena in Seattle but they couldn’t reach an agreement with the city. Now they have a new arena so they want a team again.

Lifelong sports fan, but ad I’ve aged I’ve found other things of interests they have pushed sports down a couple notches for me. That said I still get into it. Especially if I can wager a few bucks on games here and there. That said I’m old school, don’t like franchises moving around. I had all the NFL teams memorized down to divisions back with the original 28. Can still recite them all off the top of my head from back then. Now? Couldn’t do it. lol

I get why they move around etc, at the end of the day it’s business. But as a kid growing up, the NFL especially was filled with great rivalries and tradition and it was “magical” seems to be more corporate now, but I’ll still casually follow it.

To me the chargers should still be in San Diego, there should still be a Houston oilers, St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders.

Hey now, I'm a Titans fan and as a native Tennesseean, I am thrilled to have them in Nashville, even though it was at the expense of the Oilers name. You’re right though. Corporate interests have flooded that world. Thats why the Titans are getting that domed stadium built just east of the current one downtown. The current one isn't all that old, as it opened in 1999. The versatility of doing more than just ball games is alluring to the cities, team owners, city governments. Anything to spike the economy.
