Ok just to make my friend here happy, try Con-Way freight too. I just noticed that you have 16 years or trucks, and like American trucker said, fuel hauling is good, although you might work weekends, and nights at least you will be home with your family every day. Also try the food industry as well. Fuel and food are probly your best bets since they will always have work(my theory)
A local gig isnt very hard at all to get. Look on craigslist too, look into dump, waste hauling, even pier work if you live close to them.
Take me for example, I never wanted to go OTR, and although a lot of local companies want 1-3 years experience they will still bend the rules. I went to con-way with no exp, when I left, i drove for my old job at fedex ground till I landed at YRC. At the time I just barely had a year, they gave me a road test and said ok you can handle it. Even when I applied to Estes Express Lines, they terminal manager said you dont have 2 years, but maybe I can bend the rules. It took 6 months but he did call me offering me a job, but I had already started at YRC. Really hope this helps you, feel free to contact me, PM etc -
I was just busting your chops ach..

How about pulling tankers? Those jobs ususally pay better than van and also tend to get the drivers home weekly. There are more than a few tanker outfits not too far from you. These companies all have terminals in Kingsport, Tennessee:
Superior Carriers
Heniff
Transport Service Company
Kenan Advantage
Tidewater Transit
Superior Carriers also has a terminal in Marion, Virginia.
