    Hey everyone,
I’m reaching out because I’m in a tough spot and could really use some advice from drivers who might have been in similar situations or know the industry much better than I do.

    My situation:
    • Class A CDL with automatic restriction
    • Clean MVR, clean DAC, no safety violations
    • 14k+ miles under my belt
    • Was discharged from my first trucking job
    • Since then, I made some terrible personal decisions and now have 3 misdemeanors and unsupervised probation on my drive-a-check.

I know I messed up badly. I’m not making excuses, I own it. I really would like to get back behind the wheel. Trucking is what I want to do, and I just want to know if I am able to move forward and redeem myself in the next 3 months?

    What I’m looking for:
    • Companies (local/regional or OTR) that hire drivers with recent misdemeanors
    • Any advice on how to approach applications given my situation

I’ve heard there are second-chance companies out there, but I’m having trouble finding concrete information. I’m willing to work hard, prove myself, and I just need someone to give me a shot.
Any help, company names, or advice would be genuinely appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Hi, and welcome aboard. UNfortunately, it doesn't look good. Everyone here will wonder why you were "discharged", from your last job. Trucking today is not something you can say, "oh, I screwed up, give me another chance" industry, it doesn't work that way. This very machine we're using here is your worst enemy. When a prospective employer hits the "button from Hell", it immediately shows a red flag by your name. Remember, there are applicants with no records that can't get in. Due to the lack of qualified people, companies have begun to loosen up a bit, depending greatly on the nature of the offense. Minor drug or traffic records are being reviewed, nothing violent, but THREE offenses, and probation, sorry, from what we've seen here, I'd look for a less intrusive occupation.

I guess what really matters is why you were discharged from your first trucking job?

Second if you want to (your choice) share the misdemeanor charges. If we start speculating drug charges you aren’t going to get quality answers..

No drug charges. Public intoxication, resisting, disorderly conduct. I was discharged because I had a beer, drank it at the dog park and went on a walk after. The cashier assumed that I was going back to my truck to drive and called my company.

Company has strict no alcohol policy even during a layover.

    Lonesome and Concorde Thank this.

Probably we can help, but we need your location, not your address, maybe a zip code or nearest town/city..

Any carrier is going to look at you as having a big problem with alcohol.

Look for a small company that may not dig too deep into your application is the only advice I got.

I can’t see any of the large carriers taking a risk.

    Good luck.

Try Craigslist for 1099 trucking companies.
    The beer is the problem.

If "a beer" got you so drunk that they got you for public intoxication, that store lady was doing everyone on the road a favor.
