I have been trying to figure out what to do when I reach retirement age in a couple of years. employment now as bus driver and stay out a lot and stay busy.
want to slow down and work at my pace for about 5 years.
is there anyway to do it with a dump truck. I will be honest, don't know a thing about the business of dump trucks and haven't driven one since 1988
seems like trucking business is tuff no matter what you do.

I have tanker hazmat endorsement but without recent experience they are useless.
thought about moving RVs but from what I can tell you make enough to go bust once your truck is worn out.

I like to work, just would like to be able to take time off when I want to.

of course ALL advice is appreciated.
by the way not wanting to get rich overnight, just looking for away tow own some sort of truck and to ne able to make the payment and money for me too

Look at expedite companies such as Panther Expedite driving cargo vans or straight trucks. You can be an 0/0 with those companies.

Even though you haven't used your tanker/hazmat, you can still get a tanker job. One easy tanker job is hauling dry bulk cement powder & home every night. Plenty of those jobs in Holly Hill, SC and anywhere there are cement companies. Usually deliver to new or repair road construction, new building construction sites, etc.

thanks I will look into tanker advice. from what I read on these boards you need to live in your truck to stay alive in a straight truck.
I was hoping the dump truck business contracted loads to owners of trucks
