At first it would only stick when I let the cab up then let it down( idle high) I would have to manually move the rod to idle it down i'm not sure it could be gunk up. I'm thinking of just taking it off and rebuilding it, but I was wondering if there was something simple I could do before I proceeded with rebuilding it, any advice would be helpful thank you in advance

Sounds like the throttle rod or pedal is hanging up. The throttle shaft on the pump will not return to idle on its own without a return spring with or without linkage. Remove linkage from the shaft arm and leave return spring on. See if it acts normal. If it does then you need to work on the linkage and/or the pedal to free it up. Check the bell crank pivot point on the cab those things get worn and the bushings get wallered out and sticky.

Thanks very much I will look into that thanks once again for your help.
SmallPackage Thanks this. -
Some cab overs had a issue with the linkage. Had to watch how it was working as the cab came down. Flip part of the linkage when the cab was about half way down. If not they would start at full throttle.
Does it low idle with the cab up?tarvarre and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Just FYI if ya aren’t aware. NEVER lower a cab over down with engine running!

Thank you for that bit of information. I did not know that, but I have never ran the truck with the engine running and the cab up

I haven't had the cab all the way up with the truck running maybe a quarter up with the truck running but the problem usually is when the truck's not running and I have to re-crank the truck is when the the truck idles high
