My husband is new to driving. He is currently with the blood sucking company (PAM). Anyway, he is looking for a new company to work for but we are unsure of what companies offer the best miles, pay per mile and home time. Any and all information is welcome. Thanks,
where you live has a good deal to do with it. some have literally hundreds to choose from, while others who live in stupid new york (me) or god forbid florida or maine, have far fewer choices. major carriers with above average pay worth looking at are crete/shaffer (same company crete is dry shaffer is refer) and especially heartland express. one of the best paying gigs, one that few who can do it for more than a month say anything bad about, is foodservice local carrier. the one near me (willow run) has drivers run 4 out of 7 days, home mostly 3 days, and drivers average 60k+ with excellent benefits AND profit sharing. but its very physically demanding. in return for the above average pay, you hand unload 50k worth of product in 24-36 hours each trip at several stops. this is fine the first few stops, but a 50 lb box gets heavier when its the 1000th one.
I used to work for PAM! I am currently with a flatbed company other than TMC, so if you'd like some questions answered about them, just send me a PM.
