I have an 06 century with the same engine(14L Detroit ) and it holds really good, the only issue is the EGR, that thing is just a problem,a big problem, if u can find ur way around it and get rid of it would be the best thing to do I think, other than that the engine holds pretty good, mine has 900k + miles and still runs very smoothly, the 12.7L is better no doubt, but am sure the only difference between the 2 of them is the EGR, is a cheap to repair engine (and cheap parts ) if something comes up
    Good luck

2002 would be free of EGR. They both use the same block, just different heads and internals. Different bore and stroke.
14l could be had up to 575 hp before EGR.
