Let me ask this question. How do I set the line on what I will and will not do without being obnoxious and disrespectful? I have a hard time with that.

Unfortunately I'm not the best person to answer that question, but there are plenty of guys on this forum they can answer that question with great knowledge.

Myself, I think the most important thing is to concentrate on finding another job. Once you find another job then you can figure your exit strategy. But I'm sure there are members here they can give you excellent advice on how to leave and make sure that you won't have a problem with another job where that they don't tell you that you abandoned the truck or any kind of nonsense like that. Unfortunately some companies will try to screw you.

I think that if it were me and I was certain that I had another job I would try to get back to my home terminal and at that point clean the truck out and just quit.

But like I said there are others on the site here they can give you a better idea how to go about that.

I just though of something. Ohio is closer to home than Illinois. Not that much closer, but closer than Illinois. However, where Canton, Oh is located gives me the impression that they are gonna try to send me to the Northeast again.

I have read about that. In such a case, I would document everything that was said by me and the company with photos. Let someone try to falsely say I abandoned equipment. They won't have a lot to piss in when I get done with em.

Well I think the best way instead of arguing and carrying on is to use their own words that they told you.

I would start with you dispatcher and tell him that you were told at orientation you would get home at least one day for every week that you're out. If you would be happy with that then you have to try to pin him down a little bit as to whether that's accurate or not. In that case you just have to flat out ask him is that the way this is going to work? Because at that point he's either has to say yes or no.

At least then you know where you stand. You also could give over his head to whoever the supervisor is or however that company is set up.

I think the dispatchers off and get bonuses for how many miles they can make their guys run. So for his pocket it may be best for him to keep you on the road as long as possible. His supervisor may or may not see it the same way.

You could also call human resources and see what they tell you. You could explain to them that you have family that you need to get home to and see if maybe they can intermediate things.

Good point. I could also speak to the safety department about this as well. I could tell them that I'm trying to.make this work but I need home time in order to keep myself mentally sharp. How can I keep myself mentally sharp if I'm not given at least some home time? I could also.point out that even though I have only been solo since the first part of May that every load I have picked up and delivered was on time or early, with the exception of one delivery. That one was late due to a bad brake chamber on the steer axle.

It all sounds nice in a perfect world, but this is trucking and I’m
assuming a crappy big company. They don’t give a #### what you think, how you feel, etc. They use you to make them $, they care about nothing else. Start looking for a better gig, anything sounds better than what you’re doing now.

Well it is true a lot of times companies are crappy.

But sometimes when you stand your ground and say hey this is what I was promised this is what I want to get you can get it.

And sometimes it is just a crappy company but sometimes it's the person that is your direct Superior that's crappy and there are other people at the company that don't want to see that going on.

I agree you should try to get out of there, but in the meantime at least you can try to have a clear picture about which way the wind is blowing.

Maybe you are right. I'ma be talking with my DM about the preplan when he gets to work and see what he says. All I know is that he said after this load, he will.get me a load going to NC. To me, that sounds like a promise without saying it is a promise. How I was raised is if someone can't keep his word just one time, then he is not to be trusted much after that. I'ma give him a chance to see if he does keep his word. If not, I will make sure I am routed back to Nashville and quit when I get there. I will also either get a signed statement stating that I did not abandon the truck or take photos of it at the terminal, that way I will have evidence to support my case if I ever get tagged as abandoning equipment.

I am already starting to look for another company. I am also hoping that I win the lottery. It won't happen with my luck, but I do play it every so often. Should I win, certain things are gonna happen where I don't have to worry as much. :D
Anyway, I need to get some sleep. I haven't been sleeping very well the past week and it is telling on me. I am more irritable than usual and i am getting headaches at night when I don't usually get them. I will keep you posted on what my DM says in the morning.
