A broad and general overview of how to set driveline angles. Actual specs vary by truck.

It was rear towed cause they were worried about damaging anything. I did drive the truck about 8 miles to make a delivery and maybe another .75 miles to a shop with the rears having issues. So potentially could have damaged the trans then? But I wasn't driving at 70mph so not sure how it would only affect the final gear.

2 degrees is about perfect IIRC. If it's not making noise out of gear, sounds like you've done what you can to narrow it down.

I'd still pull the inspection plate. IMO, if you've got damage to a gear set (countershafts and mainshaft), you're even money to buy a reman and swap it, and you're back to work in a day or two.

Rates are too good to stay down for too long right now.

If you decide to fix, yeah, I think you can. They are complicated, but not too bad once you see how they work. The main issue is getting the mainshaft gears shimmed correctly, and then getting the assembled mainshaft back in time with the countershafts.

I've never looked, but there's probably YT vids of it online.

on an RTLO, over drive is in the front box, the rear box is an under drive so in top gear the back box is in direct, I’ve seen weird #### happen but I don’t think it’s the trans, usually you go back to the last thing you touched

did you run anything over that could break a cord/throw a tire out of round,

Vibrations are weird sometimes. Did you try dropping a gear and running the truck up to the speed range you're having the vibration? That would help isolate a rear end vs transmission issue. If it didn't do it in a lower gear at the same speed I would lean towards the transmission.

I would usually agree but I am worried about a few things. And I think all the problems stem from this. When I got the truck almost all the ujoints and the carrier bearing were bad. (Who knows for how long) Then the rear end randomly ate itself and then I drove it with the broken rear end and was sending shocks through the entire driveline like an idiot. (When I was heading for delivery I thought the transmission went bad with how it was driving so I said #### it I will make delivery) Later at delivery I pulled the plug to the trans and the differential and found out the differential was my issue when massive chunks came out.

Transmissions are really not that bad to rebuild. Definitely build or rent a stand because it'll be 10x easier than doing it on a bench.

Last I checked Eaton has full service manuals available for free download on their website if you weren't aware.

Yep if I drop down to 7 high or low no horrible sounds or vibrations even with the same rpm range and coasting back down. No sounds.

If you already know you need a clutch, at least it's not all wasted time if there's not an issue inside.

But, definitely compare what it would cost to R&R vs rebuilding it yourself.

I've rebuilt a bunch of em. I had no major damage, and still opted to R&R with a new one. I'll probably do the same thing again if I get to that point.

Individual parts are expensive. If you're close enough to Arkansas, I'll send you my Pete dealers phone # for a quote. Nobody will beat their price. Or I can call my salesman for you.

    Rideandrepair and AModelCat Thank this.
