Talking to Indiana Transport and star fleet about hauling camper. Is there better companies to deal with or better money than these to companies? Is it better to get a flat bed and hot shot thru a load board? Insurance recommendations ? Whats a good dot sleeper for regular pick up that is affordable for team driving with a pickup? Im looking for any business advice from experience people in this business, so i dont have to make alot of costly mistakes. I currently am running a dodge . Is this the way to go?

Team driving is bad enough as it is, I sure wouldn't recommend trying to do it with a pickup. Ugh.

Look for single drive axle trucks with sleepers.

I thought about hauling campers when I was trying to get into this business. Most generally unless you have your own numbers and able to get return work campers pay one way. Not For Hire is correct about two people in a pickup. You need bigger if you and your wife are traveling.

Ok you wanted advice so here goes,,,,,,,There are lots of guys,, and gals out there that can and do make a reasonable living dragging rvs around with a pickup,,,,,,,However, in those cases there are several things to consider, where do you live? Most guys that are proficient at it live in or around the Elkhart area, OR you could live in say Wyoming IF most of your work was to the west coast, a kinda of halfway point. The people that do this also fall into two categories, are you retired/semi retired looking for something to do, and a modest income bump,,,,OR is this going to be your sole source of income? Do you have kids at home? a house payment? car and or truck payment? what about your insurance, healthcare etc.? If this is your sole source of income you need to be VERY serious about it, IOW, having the wife come along for a joyride/vacation, will drain your bank account quickly. IS she going to be sharing ALL of the driving? A "REAL" business partner in this, or just company? Do either of you have a CDL, or any commercial or towing experience to draw from? What is your financial situation like? Do you have bills, or are you debt free, Money in the bank? New trucks will usually go a while before the big repairs come, but also have large monthly payments, older trucks you will be addressing something weekly. Breakdowns on the road can be devastating! I am speaking from experience, having started with one truck and ending with 75 trucks running under my authority and insurance. Narrow down the above questions and then we can get into specifics. Also know that I have no stake in this in any way, sold off that company 16 years ago.

Thx Lite bug,,,,,,I used to literally turn people away that applied to haul if they had kids at home, big mortgage, or were trying to do it on a shoestring budget, I did it for years, ran my butt off, was VERY penny wise, and fixed all my own equipment. I just think a lot of people get feed that, "drive your pickup, see the country, take a vacation and get paid for it" It just isn't the truth in most cases.
