Yep, driving job applications are run by the insurance companies for approval. Sometimes the insurance company says, OK hire him and your rates go up XXXX$$$.
FL unemployment office is good about paying for CDL school. Around Tampa they help with Roadmaster and over around Orlando I think it's a community college program.
Do what you have to do though, to get back on the road. Some of your options, such as CRST, may not be the most desirable, but we have to tough it out in life as you well know.
Midwest-Coast Transport in Auburndale has CDL school that's tuition free if you agree to stay a year. There's more info. on that on Comcar website.
You only need 6 mos. recent experience for Heyl Truck Lines or 1 yr. for Lessors; both in Florida. So, try to look at the end result and do what you have to do to get there.

I hear ya Wooly Rhino. No I don't need a brain scan. After searching more about the crst thing it seems that that is not an option for me. Recruiters always tell ya a bunch of crap and i know to take what i hear with a grain of salt. I found that they pay would be peanuts and that a bunch of stuff would be coming out of my pocket and I am not too keen on a 3 day bus ride since I vowed not to do that ever again. Then I saw a video of the "training" facility accommodations and one person who elected to pay for hotel room on his own saying the crst facility was like jail. Not bashing the company cause I don't have first hand knowledge. Anyway, I am sure something will come along just trying to be patient and have clear intention. Its all about hurry up and wait.
Good things come to those who wait right?

Phoenix Transport Services of America in Tampa Fl is looking for a driver,
If you are interested please call 813 302 9728 -
I agree with Wooly, after your brain scan, get a CDL and go to work for somebody. All the mega's will hire you for linehaul/OTR work. Believe me when I say, if you want to work they'll dispatch you. Believe this - you'll be earning more than $9/hr. That's not even minimum wage. Hey, you're not an illegal immigrant, are you?
