So ive been driving roughly 8 months now OTR and in that time I’ve only been off 10 days. In all seriousness i can feel myself starting to lose a part of my sanity. Im from CT and ive been on the west coast almost 90 days. I love driving but starting to see what the vets meant that going OTR for months at a time isnt all its cracked up to be

I just want to let everybody know I’m not blaming my companies at all the fault is mine 100%. I have a job paying pretty well for a beginner and I like seeing my bank account grow every week however with minimal contact with people other than shippers receivers and cashiers I see how this can affect your mental health

I used to drive on an account where you received a bonus for not going home. Same deal, after 8 months I was hating trucking and was absolutely miserable.
Switched to a home weekly account and so much happier now. Enjoying driving again. Also switched to night driving which I prefer. Good thing going for you is that by now you probably know what and how you like to drive. Definitely recommend getting off OTR and switching to what you want. As posted lot of opportunities exist.
Good luck!LilRedRidingHood, jsnell and dwells40 Thank this. -

Request home time in a warm climate. Most companies don't care where you take home time as long as it's in the freight lanes.
LilRedRidingHood Thanks this. -
I’m almost always home for at least 48 hours every weekend, and my paychecks are just fine. I still drive 2500-3000 miles every week (I worked six days last week and drove 3500).
