I just got my CDLs in June class A no restrictions I have a completely clean driving record no criminal background at all. But I'm finding it extremely hard to find a job. I know that I've spoken with several people, One person mentioned a guy that goes by Chinatown that would probably have some great insight for me. Just really looking for recommendations and help I'm not sure where to turn or what to do.

Did you submit an application (on-line) to Swift?

Swift has a terminal over in Memphis:

    Swift Transportation Memphis, TN Terminal

What carriers (if any) visited your class -- while you were in CDL school?

One or more of them are probably hiring newbies...

    Also: how old are you?

If you are pretty young -- that could well be part of your problem; many carriers want you to be at least 21, or a bit older....

    Local, regional or OTR?

What type of trailer do you want to drag around..flatbed, reefer, tanker or my favorite..dry van.

What’s your long term goal? Example: drive for Walmart once you get the required amount of time driving.

KMac, bryan21384 and Cmcbath1985 Thank this.

Schneider has A LOT to offer to a beginning driver.

    A LOT.

BUT -- my time there out on a trainer's truck was much too short (less than one week).

    Thus -- I can't really recommend them...in good conscience. :(

With Knight, or Swift -- your time on a trainer's truck would be MUCH MORE reasonable (min 3 weeks, or even longer).

You need that extra time to practice backing...while with a trainer.
