I am in Gloucester, MA area and considering going into trucking, my question has to do with what companies have operations in the general area. I think Schneider may have a terminal in the NE but they are no longer hiring trainees via their own school program. There may be some operations in the Boston area on US 1 but I don't know the area well enough really know where to start looking. Any recommendations?

why are you worried about terminals
companies without local terminals allow you to take the truck home usually
like when i go to newburyport to see mom and dad

I'm thinking in terms of companies to apply with, I don't have a CDL so I'm looking at the usual suspects. FWIW, the Roehl program sounds pretty good to me, even if I would have to go to Wisconsin to train and get into the system.

Do you have to go there for maintenance or service? Understand about the signage on the truck being about for references only. There is a serioulsy large truck environment in New Kingstown/Carlisle, PA, multiple companies at the hub of US 11 and I 81. Another place like that is around Fishkill NY. I am wondering if there is something similar in this area. As far as I know there aren't any truckstops in MA besides the one at the state line heading into CT. There are plenty of service plazas.

There are smaller refrigerated carriers hauling in and out of the produce markets in Chelsea . Who hauls fish out of Gloucester ? Find out who has the contract with TJ Maxx out of Worcester . I used to be home midweek and every weekend doing that run . I'm sure there are also WalMart DC's , DC's for Star Market and Stop and Shop .

I just loaded there in Gloucester last week. All the big reefer companies have trailers there at the Gorton's fish stick place.

    RickG Thanks this.

Yeah they do, Gorton's is like a layover spot for CR England rigs. There are some truck yards in the Chelsea area, I haven't been down that way since coming out of Logan.

Can't remember where I saw it mentioned but there may be some operations out of Springfield, MA too

worrying about terminals is a good thing if you can't park at your house. I can't bring it into the neighborhood, city laws. don't feel safe leaving it at the local mall for the local kids to jump on, ect.

it isnt a reason to pick a company to work for at least for me
apparently we are not a large company we dont haul for gorton's
the gloucester fish exchange has there own trucks running fish to
    boston ,new york, new bedford
most of the food service companies work out of the south shore off route 24

gloucester is like a second home to me
growing up 30 miles away and running fishing boats for over 35 years

if you ran for a reefer co and parked along the loop by the coast guard station you would be just another truck waiting on a load
    hiding in plain sight
