    No earnings are capped. Just the hours of work. You can always work for more money per hour if you can find it.

    Exactly...

    Edit: And it's not even 100% about driving. As long as it's all on private ground like a yard dog you can still drive 24 hours (or whatever) in a stretch. Just can't hit public roads until the proper breaks.

    Railroads have HOS too. Also pretty sure the tugboat/barge operators have their own set of hos restrictions.

    I heard that the railroad guys, being union, stick pretty close to hos regs.
    Tugs and towboats are a little different. There are hos limits but they're routinely ignored.

    Here's a little jewel from a few years back about what can happen when a towboat pilot falls asleep while working.
