I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts on the new HOS rules are. What do you think about the new 34 hour rule and the 30 minute break?

Don't like it, but hey what can you/we do.
They are already back in Court and trying to put then on Hold.

In the End, I don't think they will affect me all that much for the most part.

I've always wondered why cant they just let someone work/ drive 14 hours and take a 10 hour break. It's so simple and it works. It's like they just wanna keep adding and revising all these rules for no reason. Actually they should base it on your driving history, meaning if you have an excellent driving record you should be able to drive /work any hours as long as evry 24 hours you take an 8 hour break

    baberry64 and EZX1100 Thank this.

    Wow, really...ridiculous.

I think the Current Rules are A-Ok. I think the 70 is dumb though.

The 14 hour rule is ridiculous, as is the new 34 hour reset requirement.

Im in school and dont really understand all this crap yet. Can someone make it easy to understand. You cant drive more than 8 hours without a 30 minute break ? And you have to take 34 hours off after your 70 ? I dont understand the new 34 hour rule

I am pretty sure the 1/2 hour break rule says cannot drive if more than 8 hours since last break... so if break 1/2 hour, on duty not driving 7 hours, then you only have 1 hour of driving time allowed. ..Rule "May drive only if 8 hours or less have passed since end of driver's last off-duty period of at least 30 minutes." . I am new and have another posted question about the HOS Example. Example 15. Day 6. This should be a violation, and it is not flagged as one... (January 2013 FMCSA Logbook examples.:)..

As with any government regulation regarding transportation they have screwed over the worker once again, anyone that has been in the business knows why this happens, because they have no clue.
