I've heard that Idle Air is under new ownership and making a come back.
Has anyone noticed Truck Stops starting to offer it again...or did they get rid of it to begin with?
How common is it across the country currently?
Looking for some info, one of the companies I'm looking at offers it for there drivers and I was just wondering how readily available is it these days?
Thanks
KC

In D-FW X65 OFF 35w pilot has it $1.99/hr I wish they would get rid of all of them. Kind of discusting to me sharing the head unit through your window.
-
sharing a head unit ? they all run separately bro . I've used it a couple times . I've had good results I like it .
IdleAir Thanks this. -
I think , he means do they sanitize after each use. I thought about that too, for if that driver was a smoker , that would be in the unit and i put it in my truck, a non smoking truck, something like that, mayby.

first let me state this is hear say,
i've heard that there is on going law suits against old idle air company.
reports are that there are several do to respertory problems.
( yes i know i can't spell) and even a couple lung cancer claims.
This being due to Idle air never changing the filters.
I remember though speaking to a few drivers (non-smokers) that you could smell it in your truck if you hooked up to one that was hooked up to a smokers truck.
As far as the law suits go i've never been able to find them on the net
but, but research on the net not my strong suit.
maybe someone else could find them and report back? -
I am a smoker and didn't like that aspect of IdleAire. I even complained about it once. I was told to just spray it down with Fabreeze. Only problem is, I'm allergic to Fabreeze to the point of an acute asthma/anaphylaxis reaction. I'm not even asthmatic in general, so it took me completely by surprise.
But, those units reeked, even in the estimation of a smoker. So you know it had to be bad.
There are a few locations running, but I couldn't tell you which ones.Everett and Kevin Cole Thank this. -
Yeah, they smell like an ashtray. That was one of the downfalls of the old IdleAire. I don't see how the new one will overcome that problem. Come to think of it, I think I still had a few dollars on my old IdleAire card. I never heard about how to get that money back. Not worth it I guess. It was like $5-$10. I use to use their wifi on occasion when the others didn't work..

The new web site says they have 20+ active locations, and plan to increase to over 40 by the end of 2011.
They are under new ownership, and will honor credits from the previous owners/company.
Nothing said about cleanliness or smoke odor, but why would they...right.
I did a lot of looking/research about the lawsuit thing, and came up empty as well.
Seems like a great idea, but judging by what Injun said, it might be a bit too nasty to deal with.Everett Thanks this. -
They are operating in the T/A Jackson, GA, I75 exit 201.
IdleAir Thanks this.
