Good morning all, last Sunday we worked on the Eagle 9670 all day and it was a blast, I truly love this truck.
So we pulled valve covers, loosened the injector rockers and pulled old injectors and they were junk! Cleaned out ports oiled and installed new injectors… it was a fun day!
first question should I have poured a little trans fluid in port before installing injectors? And if yes can I pull the top stop pin and put a little in there without trying to pull the new injectors back out?
next question since I didn’t touch exhaust or intake valves can I just torque injector hold down bolts (2) x 6 @ 168 inch pounds and injector rockers to 6 inch pounds and be done?
If I only do injector torque do I have to spin motor to ABC or can I just torque them?
Or do I have to run the overhead on everything?
We are very close to trying to fire it, cleaned fuel tanks and all lines, replaced all filters and oils and charged all batteries, I have not reinstalled the valve covers yet so whatever you all tell me to do I will do…
Thanks in advance, forever grateful…

Nothing for ya Dave, but it brought back memories of my dads little 1/4" inch pound Snap On screwdriver torque wrench.
ThanksElmerFudpucker and Oxbow Thank this. -
I have that torque wrench too.
Thanks for responding
Not a snap on though lolOxbow Thanks this. -
If you just randomly pulled the injectors and replaced them, yes you need to run the ABC code and adjust the injectors properly.
When replacing the injectors I pull the injector after rolling the engine to the proper position for that injector, then pull / replace / and adjust that injector, then roll the engine to the next position for the next injector and repeat the same process.
I take it you probably have top stop injectors….?Deere hunter, wore out, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
Depending on how many miles on the engine since the last tuneup, if not many then yes you can get by with only adjusting the injectors, but since you are already in there……
ElmerFudpucker, Oxbow and Star Rider Thank this. -
Yes top stop injectors
Ok so I know the overhead was done a 1 1/2 years ago. And the truck died from contamination then so it’s been sitting for that long…
The old injectors were totaled, completely covered in junk….which is why it stopped I hope
The motor doesn’t have a big center bolt to hand spin it, will the smaller bolts work for this? I believe there are 5-6 of themOLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
No……. You use the nut in the center of the accessory drive pulley. Should take a 1-5/16” socket. Just line the pointer up with the A-B-C on the outer edge of the pulley closest to the front cover….ElmerFudpucker, Big Road Skateboard, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
When I looked at the accessory drive pulley I didn’t see a center nut, it appeared to be a smooth shaft but I will look again

It looks like this, no center nut
Or is the center nut deep inside pulley to the top right?
