The best advice I can offer is to spend a few days reading this forum. Any question you could possibly have has already been answered many times on here.

There is A TON of good info on here from guys who have been there and done it... Some better than others. Save as much as you can for a maintenance fund. Nothing will put you out of business faster than not having money to fix your ride! Good luck!! Happy trails!

Oh and don't be afraid to say no to cheap freight!

Do an oil sample and blow by test. Do you know what rates he gets since you'll be with the same carrier. Have 15k at the very least and good credit. That maintenance fund is the most important when your just getting going because you'll have to shake the bugs out the 1st few months

  8. Since he's a friend. See if he has his maintenance records( it's better to read about it ) for past year. Then hear him say it was so. As well as oil changes and tires purchased.

Just a couple of thoughts off the top of my head.

Why is he selling the truck? You don't sell a money making truck that's for sure

Saving money for truck maintenance and repairs is a must as stated by others. But don't forget to save a bunch for Uncle Sam. He can get a little cranky when he doesn't get his share.

    Any advice?

Yeah don't do it, something stinks about the deal. The truck is only a little of the equation, the business end is the rest.
