I just started a business with one 16' box truck and have been working exclusively with a business doing deliveries for them. That just ended and now I'm looking into start hot shots. I've run into the problem of inexperience and not knowing the best place to look for work for such a small business and truck. I just got a factoring company and I'm trying to decide if I should get a dispatcher or find load boards on my own. *located in Milwaukee, WI* Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeppers, go into any big box store and talk to their appliance people. Find out which 3rd party company delivers appliances for them then contact said company.
    Same for furniture stores.

Also, is this and expedited truck (i.e. with a sleeper?) or a local truck? What city/state are you located in?

There should be a maker of airconditioning, heating and cooling units for commercial rooftops.

You failed to indicate your location precisely. I don't care about your house, but a nearest town or city will help alot.

Here's a couple of places to get hotshot loads:
    Showroom Transport
    Star Fleet Trucking

You are in the land of Flour Milling, Some brewing and lots of automotive parts among other things. You should come up with some pretty decent trucking opportunities in your area.

YOU are a 16" box truck, you don't do hot shot work, you do delivery work. Call the local courier places and ask if they need a truck, put up a flyer at your Home Depot, Menards and Lowes for local delivery work.

16 foot is too small for other things that would require 24 feet of space.

just curious but what kind of rates have you been getting for both the old business you were working with as well as any new work you picked up. I have he opportunity to purchase a 14ft and 16ft reffer box truck and am curious as to what i can charge.

I am in the memphis, tn area.

    Thanks,
    Martin

You can make bank with a reefer box. If, and that’s a big if, you can get hooked up for urgent medical supply delivery. ;)
