Yeah that's the stress talking. You gotta remember the people you're talking to are often early 20 something's who are in way over their heads. They honestly have no idea what is going on beyond 'take loads cover loads derpity durrrrrr'. They are bare beginners in the extremely complex game of spot market pricing.

Have any of you ever thought about the following question?

Customer X asks you to quote lane Y for date Z. What do you quote?

As a trucking company you take round trip expenses subtract 60% of what you think you'll get on the back haul and add 10-15% for margin of safety...

As a broker you ask yourself 'what do I think I'll be able to hire a truck for lane Y on day Z?' That question is super complicated and if you get it wrong you get to make a choice: piss off the customer or take your lumps. This poor kid is probably confronting the enormous emotional strain of making this choice for a lot of money (to them lol... I don't start #####ing until it's 5 figures because of a claim. That being said I think I've lost <1000 on loads this year) Do they ruin their check three pay periods from now or do they piss off their biggest customer and maybe have to go get a new one?

You said 1400. She heard 'I want you to eat rice and beans for the next month to avoid borrowing 500 bucks from your parents to cover rent'.

Yeah same here. I didnt come here to do business. But, now I realize it would be nice to selectively do business and develop relationships with hardworking independent operators. I want great service and Owners want great money. Perfect match.

O well, I'm just here to learn and give insight where I can. Impressive posts though bored. May have saved that owner a lot of money.

Yeah I'm seriously considering setting up a blog or something. I feel like I could spend some of the time I do on this site doing that instead... And actually be able to monetize that through additional trucks covered during my busy season.

This off season it's either that or learn to code. I'm leaning toward learn to code though. Also interested in figuring out how to make my computer do as much of my work as possible.

    lol @boredsocial ...

I used to code a few years back...automated a bunch'a crap, from weather data scrapping to running daily/monthly reporting of my business. I got bored (no pun intended) tho

w.r.t your own site, I think it would be a good start...since u will be covering a gap that's not permitted on this site

I mean yeah I have zero interest in writing a blog that helps other brokers lol. But general trucking industry stuff like I post here seems like it should be worth something to someone... Even if it's just running some of my freight periodically. The reality is that my biggest business problem is supply of trucks not supply of freight. I could literally do 400% as much business without adding any customers.

With coding it's mostly that I can either hire humans to do work or write code to do that work. Hiring humans is expensive and risky. Code always shows up to work. Code doesn't actively work towards finding a solution to the problem 'how little work can I do before boredsocial fires me?'

Look into cryptocurrency (and possibly coding it). I've been making a killing lately, almost feels weird driving when I can stay home and click away.

There is something I want to say, but it would offend a lot of people. Are you saying you can't even receive a PM as a broker?
