That's a good choice and a good price in my opinion as long as it was rebuilt with GENUINE eaton gears, otherwise it will be trouble. The headset gears WILL eventually crack, break or shear teeth.

@m16ty , the rtlo 187 series versus the rtlo 189 series rtlo transmissions use the older style course spline output shafts, which is what your rtlo16610B has, so you should be ok unless your putting a new yoke on it anyhow. The Rtlo 18918 has a fine spline output shaft and an upgraded seal design. What driveline are you running?

Not saying one is better or worse, my fuller parts supplier told me that the eaton gears are made in China. While the aftermarket were North American I think he said Canada.

They were making them in China at some point, they made them in India also. They are making them in north America again. Eaton learned a hard lesson

Thanks. I know when I get into one with high mileage I always like to replace the direct and overdrive gear sets in the front box , even if they look good. I have seen to much root failure not to

I agree 100%, I'm the same way. It's too much work not to replace them while its apart. The ol familiar "click click click" sound makes you instantly regret not doing it while its opened up lol.

Hi there, I have the same RTLO18718B and is time for a new clutch now. Does it make any better if I get a clutch with more torque 2050 or 2250? What will be my benefit from that high torque clutch when my loads are under 80 000 GW?

The clutch rating should be in consideration of engine power/torque output.

A 2250 uses a spline adapter to work with a regular 2"-10 spline shaft unless you already have a 14 spline input shaft. A 2050 will hold fine upto around 600-700 or so hp.
