I’ve put 310k (550k total miles) on my truck and I’ve had to do an exhaust manifold, a water pump, two NOx sensors, and a dpf. So I’d say when factor that in plus the money saved by extending drain intervals and the money saved on fuel I’m way ahead of an old engine at this point.
New truck list I'm looking at..

Friend of mine had an 07 Cummins in a International. It was a nice Truck. Kept having to clean the sensors. The doser would run or leak? All the time. Kept smelling diesel. had to take it to the dealer to make it regen, a couple times finally got the doser fixed. Then exhaust sensors would always need cleaning, about once a week. We finally figured out it was the egr cooler. Replaced it, no more problems. He messed around with it for a couple months-running the whole time. It was a common problem on those. Should have been obvious, but neither of Us knew anything about such things. By the time he got through, he was an expert. Lol.

I have a friend that drives with cargo that the cargo owner specifies that the engine is not to be turned off until the very expensive and proprietary oversize cargo is delivered.
Cant run oversize at night so they rack up a lot of idle time.
they idle every night, four days a week.
They buy a new truck just before
The warranty runs out , but they’ve never had any issues with emission stuff,
But they do a forced regen EVERY morning before they start driving.
would forcing a regen every day prevent all the emission problems ?
they also do oil changes every 10k when the manufacturer says 40-50k is acceptable .Rideandrepair, slow.rider and joseph1853 Thank this. -
