If they hadn't been successful how long do you think it would have been before every other state was doing the same thing?

Actually, going back in time many states had done exactly what New York had. New Jersey still charges an ad valoreum tax on all transportation revenue in or through their state, but only to incorporated companies. Kentucky and New Mexico also have weight distance taxes, they just collect them in a different manner than New York had. Maybe you remember when New Mexico had the weight distance permit you had to carry in the truck, I do. Now they just run your DOT number and tag to be sure you have paid it, but it is still there, same as New York.

Also, the OOIDA "victory" is a false victory, since all they did was get the permit and decal fee invalidated, not the actual weight distance tax, or as NY calls it "Highway Use Tax". And, New York still charges $1.50 for the decal, so really the OOIDA lawsuit was as hollow as the rest of their propaganda.

O/O need to start charging "cost recovery fees" like the phone companies and utilities do. They charge their customers fees to pay whatever federal and state governments charge for them to do business.
