Newbie female trucker wanting local in Jax, FL

Hi guys and gals

So I was a transit bus driver (CDL-B) for close to 2 years but I decided to go back to school to get my CDL-A. I just finished FSCJ’s CDL school earlier this month (February 2026). Since then I got my tanker, doubles/triples, and my TWIC badge. I also got my physical done so that my dot medical card is updated for another 2 years. I really want to stay local (if at all possible).

Had an interview with sysco- I don't think I got it because I don't have class A driving experience. I got a “no” from Cheney Bros., had an interview with JB Hunt but their recruiter said “no” as well because of no class A driving experience. I'm going to apply to Werner and see if I can get onto any of their local accts (walmart, budweiser) but there are alot of horror stories about Werner. Also I haven't heard back from TMC or Pepsi yet.

I would appreciate any suggestions on who else this newbie female driver can apply too?

 

JB Hunt told me “no” too . One of their recruiters called me and ultimately turned me down but said when I have tractor/trailer experience I could try again.
