No, if you already have a valid Class A CDL you dont change it to Texas. Thats only for people going to the school to GET their CDL.
Good luck.

No you will not need to change your licence. You may/probably will go through their school anyway, you just won't need to make any trips to DPS.

Thanks Guys for your help. And what about child support???, i have a problem with my ex-wife we have 2 kids together, she is planning to get child support on me, i give my kids what ever they ask, but you know how it is. My question is... If i go to Stevens in Dallas to start my training is there going to be a problem for me to train or work for Stevens???? i mean once i get to Dallas are they gonna send me back home because i have child support to pay???? Thanks again for all your help guys and please be safe out there God bless you all

Child support is a way of life anymore.
Companies are required to deduct any court ordered monies, such as child support. This is so common that no one looks twice at it anymore. so that being said, figure if you ex has a court ordered child support amount, it will be automatically deducted from your pay.
It won't affect your being hired.
Now there is a difference between court ordered child support and arrears.
All states are required to enforce child support orders and if you're in arrears and listed as a 'deadbeat' parent, the state can pull your license.
If you're working with them, that doesn't happen. -
Hey thanks for the info...... I guess im ok to go then..... -
Hi everyone,
Last year at this time i went to Stevens Training Academy. The school is one of the most informative technical training classes i have ever taken. I have taken computer traing classes for A+ ,Network+, MCSE, and Cisco certifications so i have had a lot of tech traing and i can say stevens has their traing down to a science. When i arrived i had never even seen the inside of a Big Truck. 2 days after i got on the track i was shifting gears and could make the truck go and stop. The traing staff are very patient and will work with you on problem areas. OTR trainers is the luck of the draw. MY first trainer was great. HE taught me how to drive the truck. The second i wanted to tie to the hood and tape his mouth open to keep him from starving to death. I drove with them until Feb. of this year. I left to take a driving job with a mom and pop out of NE. BIG MISTAKE. Their equipment was junk and they didnt care about playing by the rules. Anyhow i ended up gettting a position with Rohel transport starting monday. Being single and no obligatons you will do fine. And as others have said if you can stay out for 6 - 8 weeks at a time you will make decent money. Stay positive and if you do get a trainer that drives you nuts just remember it is only a few weeks until you get your own truck.Corporal_Clegg, GSWx, DenaliDad and 2 others Thank this. -
