Hello,
Driving a 2007 International tri axle dump. I was wondering if someone could recommend a cb with decent illuminated face for night driving. Not really worried about fancy features. Mostly used to talk to loader at quarry and other drivers when plowing snow. Stay safe out there.

Cobra 29 night watch would probably be your best bet. Maybe if you could get your hands on a night watch limited edition but those are few and far between.
squirrellsgnwild Thanks this. -
Anything backlit, and I have never used one. Cobra Nightwatch is green backlit the Unidens are amber and the Galaxy Starlite is blue, I think.
I would have bought a Uniden 78 LTW instead of the 29 Classic Chrome but I needed to replace the radio in a hurry. The 78 wasn't in stock at the time. -
My General HP is bright , bright , BRIGHT at night. Blue channel and swr. Also had a dim switch. Ive seen some Strykers that are really illuminated as well

Starlite is green like the Cobra.

Thank you all so much!

Beware of the nightwatch feature on the Cobras, they're known to burn out and cost almost the price of a new radio to fix. Uniden makes an Elite series that utilizes individual LED's for back lighting. A much better choice IMO. I believe Galaxy uses the same backlighting as the Cobras do.

My 2 ish year old night watch 29 has burnt out but it's done alotta beating around im pickup
-
My Stryker is more than bright enough... But I would only buy a used older one as I have not heard anything good on the newer ones

I'd rather just get used to feeling around at night on the CB than have a brightly lit radio staring at me all night. The only thing lit up on mine is the channel # and meter and it's plenty bright and annoying even with it mounted up between the sun visors.
Eaton18 Thanks this.
