Yep. They are going to allow us 3 more years. I guess the mentality up here is everything is illegal unless our overlords decide otherwise. Nanny knows best. My country is going down the sh_tter with the current jokers running it.

Thats interesting because Thursday night I heard some chatter that numerous truck drivers were baited and charged with using CB's in the Geraldton/Beardmore area earlier in the day. Not sure how valid the chatter was as you know how truck drivers gossip:)

What idiot would put using a CB even in the same league as using a handheld phone or texting while driving?

I think even if radio is mounted they object to the hand held mic.....

    Am I wrong...?

    That is exactly it.
Some guys out west would unplug the mic so if questioned it is for receiving only. While the 2nd radio is hidden under the seat or wherever. I don't think it is strictly enforced.

Why? Ontario is the only jurisdiction that has such a "CB" law (surprise), everyone else has an exemption for work-related use (even Quebec o_O).

Now, some drivers (out west) with programmable VHF radios would do as you said (unplug mic) and for the same reason. However, in the case of programmable VHFs, the potential fines are quite a bit higher, although the chances of getting caught are significantly lower.

Unless by "out west" you meant Thunder Bay. ;)
