That's why we all should support "right to repair" .

Didn't even know that was a thing. I had to look it up. I always thought the reason repairs weren't happening was because it would cost less to simply replace the item.

No,some compagnies like Apple try to lock down parts in varies ways so you buy new or overpay to repair.

    Disclaimer
It is not just Apple doing this.
Apple are the most prominent compagny in this.

Yeah, John Deere has more than a few people upset over this whole right to repair thing. I haven't been following it real close, but I think there is or was a class action suit over this.

As far as the OP question, aside from a W900, I wouldn't take any other Paacar product. I feel they have really gotten Freightliner-ish with their interiors.

Now bear in mind I drive a Freightliner with lockwashers (Western Star). And I love it. It has its quirks, like anything else, but they've gotten much better since the first one I drove, which was a 2013. I just drove a new 2020, and a lot of the issues I had with the '13 have been addressed.

Freightliner and Western Steers start out as turds, no waiting.

I've heard farmers are starting to hack their tractors in order to repair them affordably themselves.

Yeah. They can put all the electronics in a machine they want. All it takes is an ambitious farmer to overcome it. And it does happen
