Is a no seatbelt citation considered a moving violation? Does it put points on your Alabama CDL?

Did you get it in a big truck on an inspection form? If so, it’s worth 7 points on your PSP (x3 for the first year) if I remember correctly. It doesn’t go on your license typically since it’s not a moving violation in some states, but companies usually only allow you to get one then you are fired on the next.

It doesn't put any points on the PSP as that is simply a report of past inspections. It does however put 7 points on the carrier's CSA score. Trippled for the first year, so 21 points.

You’re right, I meant CSA. Distracted by a two year old in a bad mood.

Yes it was in a commercial vehicle. I had the seatbelt on, but the strap was behind me so he wrote the citation as lap and shoulder belt required.. so this isn’t a moving violation though for Alabama?

He also said he wrote it as if I were in a regular motor vehicle so it wouldn’t affect my cdl.. I don’t see how that’s true considering he done a level 2 inspection and it it on that report

He could have tagged it on the ticket as a personal vehicle. I don’t see how though. Since make and model would be on it as well.

Look at the ticket. See what it says
