The railroads union tried to go on strike because the big billionaire railroads are cutting corners. There are reports that the railroad requires no more than 90 seconds inspection per car, down from three minutes a few years ago. They have about a third fewer workers expected to cover the work of the missing workers in the same time frame. The big billionaire companies pulled in their political favors and got the president to avert a strike.
