As always, I wish you the best.
If I could quit trucking, I'd do it tomorrow. Thing is, the only people interested in paying a 59 year old man a living wage are trucking people. I have financial goals......house and cars and big truck will be completely paid off in 3 years, then I'll make my decision(s). Since my big truck will be paid off, I might just stay where I'm at and only run 3 or 4 days a week or whenever the mood strikes me. It will be nice to have that flexibility.
You'll do fine. Heck, you've made it this far..........
Keep in touch25(2)+2, Onadetour, popcorn169 and 3 others Thank this. -

Long long long time with no update........
Things have gotten much better in my life....
Around March, when stuff started to go downhill with the Covid, I realized I did not want to work in a massive drug manufacturing facility....
So I reached out to the owner of a trucking company I had previously leased onto, JRV Logistics. We had kept in touch since I left them and had talked about working for them in an office capacity possibly in the future. The problem was the office is in Chicago, not in upstate New York where I reside.
After about 2 weeks of 'negotiations' I was hired to be their recruiter, working remotely from my home. Things have gone much better than I could have ever imagined. I have hired 26 drivers to date, 26 new Owner Operators. I now also do their accounting, invoicing, and safety. I am responsible for the self-dispatch drivers as well. My salary has doubled in 6 months. And I never leave my house! My commute is down the steps to my basement office...
Take care and always.....Roll on....Home_on_wheels, JOHNQPUBLIC, drvrtech77 and 6 others Thank this. -
