I’m new to the trucking game but wanna start saving for a truck so in a couple years I can wrk for a bit in the fields then have enough money to buy a truck if I like it. What do you guys recommend when it comes to what you’re hauling and wanna stay in North Dakota? Water or Sand.. please let me know

Neither if your new to trucking, cutting your teeth in the oil fields will be your demise.
I have 30 years in it, just got back from a scout trip in Odessa/Midland; came back home the next day, it is a #### wreck even for a veteran oil and gas guy.
Ya money may be a tad better, but I will stay OTR.

    Western flyer Thanks this.

    Maybe I read it wrong!

If you live up that way, and are going to work for someone, water would be your best bet at first with no experience.

Water to start, much steadier work vs sand.

I live in Idaho. I’ll waiting a couple years but like I said I’m saving now because that’s smart to do if you wanna buy a truck in the future or at least have the money to do so when the time comes.

Talk to Josiah Ray @J-H Trucking. I hauled water for him just recently. Good man. Paid the last paycheck. His shop is in Williston.
    1099 paid WEEKLY!!!
    Direct-Deposit.
    Paid Every Monday!
    No logs whatsoever.
    Work 7 days a week!!!
    Plenty of work.
    Live in the truck
He's leased to like 4 carriers
Has own shop and 2 awesome mechanics. They showed up with 45mins on calling and get you going.

I made a %#$* TON of $$$ in 1month and left due to the boredom.

Yea I sometimes think I have that. I get in my head and #### but if I’m actually making money it suffices the lonliness. Should have stayed a few months made a bunch of money before winter hit

I have other avenues to make $$$$.

I already did my time up there in 2012-2013. I hated ND then. Still hate it now.
