I have 2 companies on the board to start with. One is Stevens where they want me to start CDL class on the 20th. I was told to call my recruiter every Friday to show I'm still on board. I called them this morning and said I'm still on. So he said great I will call Monday to setup transportation and schooling details.
Now the other company Roehl calls me after that and gave a 5 minute general call overview of the school training and pay. He has me now setup for a Monday actual phone interview. I also have to get another physical and drug test even though I just did both 2 weeks ago from a registered FMCSA doctor but it doesn't matter to them they said I still need to do that again.
My question is should I just wait to contact Stevens back until after my phone interview with Roehl? My phone interview is 11 am.
The only reason I said let's go to the Stevens recruiter is so I don't delay anything if I can't get on with a better company like Roehl. If for some reason I don't get a firm offer from Roehl I'm already locked in with Stevens on the 20th.
I just don't want to screw anything up. Roehl is my first choice and way better company and want to drive for them but don't want to screw up my backup Stevens.
Not sure what to do

You're finally going to do it!
Good for you, best of luck.Dan.S Thanks this. -
Look, if you qualified for Stevens, you’ll do fine with Roehl.
The so-called interviews I’ve had with trucking companies are nothing. Try interviewing for ANY job elsewhere, and you’ll see that in order to pass a trucking interview you pretty much have to have a pulse and pass a drug test.
You’re WAY overthinking this. If you want to go with Roehl, go with them.
At this point, don’t burn a bridge (Stevens) since you already jumped thru the hoops, but you’re stressing about all this too much.Dumdriver, Kyle G. and austinmike Thank this. -

I understand what you’re asking.
If Stevens calls first, tell them you’ll have an answer by that afternoon... -
btw, trucking isn't a gig where you always get your hand held.HotH2o, mslashbar, CrappieJunkie and 3 others Thank this. -
Hindsight I think this thread I made wasn't necessary I'll figure it out on my own. Nobody is going to hold my hand out there with every challenging issue nor do I want that.
Maybe I'm overthinking stuff I'll just go with the flow.tinytim Thanks this. -

Yes. You’re overthinking EVERYTHING.
It’s really not a big deal. Don’t burn the Stevens bridge until you know that Roehl is a go.
Right now is an employees market.
Just don’t pick up the phone when Stevens calls. I dunno what else to tell you.
If you’ve juggled life issues (as I understand that you have, working and caring for a parent) this really isn’t any harder than that. Really.tinytim Thanks this. -
The drug test is something you have to do with EVERY company before you drive for them..."pre-employment". Then, when you work for them you'll still be subject to "random" as well as (hopefully never necessary) "for-cause" and "post-incident" testing.
As for the DOT physical thing, as a general rule of thumb I won't work anywhere that doesn't recognize a current valid medical certification. If you just had one done 2 weeks ago, there is no reason to need another one now. Too many companies are in cahoots with "sleep centers" to send "questionable" drivers their way...only to be (wrongfully or not) diagnosed with "sleep apnea" so the company can "finance" the purchase of a CPAP machine for 3x what it would cost to buy outright, but they know you need a job and they'll deduct it a little each week.
