Ok, I have a friend who is in advertising. He wants me to put a Mobil Bilboard on my Box. He will pay me $900 a month for a two year contract. Keep a reserve of $150 a month for tires, etc. My trailer needs brakes and I’d like to paint the DOT bumper and K-Bar. He said when he wraps it, he’ll do the brakes, paint it and deduct the bill for said work over 12 months of the payments. I choose the shop he just pays the bill.

basically it nets me additional $8,400 a year with new brakes, paint and tires....would you do it? (That’s after taxes and what I think the bills will be and what tires I won’t use).

Check with your accountant for possible income taxes that will eat away at those earnings. It might sound like 16800 to you cash, but I would imagine half of that is gone in taxes when it comes both years to pay on it.

If you do this, you are going to be known as either Pegasus Man or Mobil Man before too long.... so choose carefully.

If that money does come in for the contract.... put it into a savings account ready for battle at the end of two years. Some drivers not used to being O/O's will just blow it on friday night and whine on monday after the engine blew up or something.

This has been done for ages.

The only thing is, if you can't afford to do simple cheap repairs to your trailer, then why are you an O/O?

Depends on what he's advertising. If it's for tampons or "Elect Bernie Sanders", forget it.

That's decent money, more than I would think if it's accurate. I would do it only and ONLY if I had a say in what is printed on the side of the trailer.

Dino soar, mitmaks and PE_T Thank this.

    $900 a month is $10,800. $150 a month is $1,800 that leaves $9,000
    Why only $8,400.
What is the $150 reserve for.
He has to know your truck needs maintenance too, or it doesn't keep running. You shouldn't need additional maintenance from what you are doing.

I would do it. I don't understand your numbers.

If he gave advice on things he does know about he would rarely post. Wouldn’t that be nice.
