I am a driver with 10yrs exp looking for O/Ops that need drivers that will RESPECT and take CARE of their truck "as if" it was their own. Ive worked for 7 different companies and are so-so tired of bouncing around wasting my life away. Some of the companies, I "thought" I found a home for 20yrs,but what a farce. Seems, drivers like me that wanna peddle to metal and earn those house payments runs cant survive anymore out there. Strange isnt it,want to drive safe, deliver ontime, earn good money, and sink your feet in establishing years at the same place just isnt wanted anymore.
The excuses abound WHY long runs aren't constantly available to drivers rather it be cause of satisfying higher senority drivers that wanna park their beerbellies at stops and complain "They aint making me drive over 400 a day,or they know I'll quit", or using excuses like, not in a customer based area, economy is slow, get back with 1st shift dispatch in the morning, and the list goes on.
The BEST driving job I EVER had was with a O/O that had 4 trucks,NO governors, and gave me RESPECT for the way I treated HIS truck(handpolishing it,kept it clean,ALWAYS called him about a steer, lines or whatever to ultimately get things replaced at a "low priced" shop to save him money. The "cudos" I received from that man was very enlightning. He had all of his trucks "on" with the same co outta Canton,MI and I spent 3yrs there then my wife died and I had to quit to raise my 3 kids THEN(theyre growed up now). People have asked me why I dont go back to that co since now Im looking and its because the power of an O/O is gr8 # a co cause they can pull their trucks if they think the co is screwing their drivers, and besides, their co drivers are dogged, good co rather overall.
The O/O useta comment,"Your making more money than me"..lol His wife died 9mths after mine and he sold all his trucks..pity. I was getting .40cpm last co, no accidents ever, idle% avg of 27-44(depending on weather and state)(they used Idle-A^^^),THEN the co "used" the excuse of economy's slow(an excuse NOW to get drivers to except the pathetic 100-200mi runs)....needless to say that was my downfall. I told them, "I am an OTR dvr NOT dedicated or regional short run goer".....boot I was gone 3yrs down the ole tubeola.
Thankyou,
