They rebuilt the one at the 17mm. No showers there. And they rebuilt the Tamarack in Beckley, I’ve yet to stop there since it’s been reopened….

I never DIDN'T wear flip-flops in any shower on the road except once when I forgot them, so I threw a towel on the shower floor and stood on it. If you don't want plantar warts or athlete's foot wear shower shoes.
    Please tip the shower cleaners.

West Wendover, NV is the place to go for a great and free shower experience. (NOT the Pilot)
They provide the towels and everything else.
A nicer/cleaner shower room will not be found.
I left a $10 tip, because it would be a sin not to.

That was a decade ago, so I don't know how it is today.
Wendover was always a welcome stop when I could manage it. Get a nice shower, do some gambling and get a good meal.

I just carry a spray bottle of 15% bleach. The shoes can crack or get splashed and still let nasty in. Hitting the shower with the bleach and letting it sit for 5 or 10 mins while you do your other things then giving it a quick rinse does a far better job imo. Yet to catch anything nasty.

I remember when they re-did the Ohio service areas and put the showers in. Back then, they always had an attendant back there and they provided towels for you. Times have changed and i haven’t been on the Ohio pike in probably 15+ years.

They were nicer than about any truck stop shower when they were new. You never had to worry about parking either.

Ohio really did things right with their turnpike service plazas. Hundreds of parking spots, free showers, paved lots...then you cross into PA and the first service plaza around the 49mm has like 10 parking spaces lol
