Hey guys,
So I bit into the Schaeffers oil agenda, but prior to I was running 10-30 Delo SynBlend, roughly 100k miles from factory on that oil but switched over to Schaeffers Ultra Synshield, same weight. Reason being was my truck went from a main 48 state, 80k gross truck to now a local 105k truck with 2 or so hours of high idle pump time a day, 5-7 days a week.
Long story short, I wanted to dig into the health of my oil to see if the oil switch was worth it, and also to see if an analysis is worth it every few oil changes. Can anyone here possibly look at my last oil analysis with Delo to see if anything stands out? I am currently diving into what to look for myself, but wanted some extra eyes on the report. I will be getting results from my Schaeffers oil sample in a few days, have roughly 32k miles on two cycles of Schaeffer thus far. Motor is a 2022 X15 565/1850 with 150k miles now. OIL SAMPLE FILE IS ATTACHED TO THREAD.

Dunno why they're flagging the base number on the D4739 - less than 2.0 I'd change it, but
Rest of it looks good, fuel dilution - they must use a different test.
I use Schaffer's, so I'm more familiar with their analysis. I'm guessing CAT/Blackstone/Schaeffers have different testing.
I mainly monitor fuel dilution, bearing/metal traces, glycol, soot - and change ultimately on acidity (base).OhNoTerry Thanks this. -
Base number is highlighted as low, other than that seems ok. Do you have bypass filtration?

To be honest with you - I use Schaeffers oil because I like the guy. He came to my house, greeted my wife and I, was polite, and I consider him a business friend for the last 10 years.
The product gets delivered to my house free, over $500 - they have a range of lubricants, and test kits are cheap.
Is it any better than any other oil? I doubt it.
Is it overpriced? Yes, but I have it in a barrel when I need it.
Oil sampling - to a guy that owns 50 trucks, should be a no brainer.
Oil sampling - to a guy that owns one truck, should be a no brainer.
I pull a sample every 10k - I have gone to 40k before changing, or -
"OH, we have fuel dilution, lets find the problem", and saved $30k -
Or - you can just change oil regardless at 10k miles , and see what happens.
To each their own. -
Adds 10% capacity and cooling to your system, slow bypass filtration - $50 filter - why not.OhNoTerry Thanks this. -

Somebody smarter can probably tell me, but the factory filter or filters for that engine may already serve a 'bypass' function if it has two and they're different micron size.
Putting an Amsoil bypass on it certainly can't hurt.OhNoTerry Thanks this. -
How many miles/hours on sample and why 10w30

The ISX and X15 both use a internal bypass filter design in one.
From QSOL .......
A combination oil filter is present on the engine. The upper portion of the combination filter contains the full-flow Stratapore filter element, while the lower portion contains the full-flow NanoNet element.
The combination filter design has been optimized to distribute oil flow during normal engine operation; however, during extreme engine oil conditions (additive dropout, contamination, soot etc.) the improvements increase the overall filtration effectiveness.
Oil circulates through the Stratapore full-flow portion of the filter, into the oil cooler housing, and is directed to the engine oil rifles.
A smaller portion of the oil circulates through the lower NanoNet full-flow portion of the filter and is directed to the engine oil rifles.
End QSOL-
If both sections of the filter become clogged a external bypass valve in the filter head opens to supply the engine with oil by bypassing the filter fully.
