Ah now I see it sorry for doubting you! I too find 15k a week a bit of a stretch That's like 780k gross a year...

This thread helped me gain the confidence to make the 22+ hour drive from Northern California, I was towing a trailer through half the trip (California) so it ended up taking me 3 days cause I didn't want to get a speeding ticket leaving communist Cali. It was pretty tough but all in all it was a great learning experience.

I had applied to about 200 companies before I left and I have been getting phone calls from companies throughout tx everyday. At this point I have stopped accepting calls from Texas area codes due to the fact that the first company I walked into needed a driver so bad I was drugged tested and hired on the spot. I was not giving a interview or test drive. I was sent solo 60 miles north of big spring. I got 2 hours of on site training and drove through the treacherous desert lease roads hauling water from tanks at a Frack site to disposal.

I recieved the most minimal training you could imagin. Luckily I am mechanically inclined or I would likely be dead or seriously injured.

I have been on my own for 3 days and have about 45 solo vac truck hours under my belt (no exaggeration) first day on the job I was on duty for 19 hrs (my cluch leg is soooOOOOO SORE) LOL!.

Thankfully they gave me the day off today to seek housing as I have been sleeping between my small suv and motels which turns out to be very costly.

Since I received so much helpful advice and encouragement on TTR forum I am going to share the wealth.... CJ energy has taken out a huge billboard along Interstate 20 looking for drivers to join the company, this is the only company that I have seen that has went this far to look for drivers - to take out a whole on board on the freeway. Other than that, the whole distance between Midland and Odessa is heavy duty industrial and most of the yards have big signs and banners on their gates saying they are hiring drivers to apply inside. I drove in from Roswell New Mexico and practically every little tiny city once you passed the state line has trucking yards with signs looking for drivers. Also Craigslist and workintexas.com is an extremely valuable resource for looking for work in Texas oil fields. And last resort, if all else fails or you plan on bringing your lady or other family, walmart has huge signs hiring for $17 an hour, McDonald's is paying 15, subway is paying 12 and I could make a list so long it would go for pages of all the random little companies that are paying a pretty decent wage for customer service work.

Good luck and stay safe out here everybody.

Special thanks to Cooley the original poster, your a good man sir! Thank you! If you feel like sending me a message no doubt lunch or dinner will be on me brother.

    Welcome to Texas.

I don't go over 55 with a trailer. Way less money wasted on fuel that way.

Be careful out there. Especially working around high pressure lines/valves

    hardworkinman Thanks this.
