Hello, hope everyone is doing well.
I hope this is the right spot for my question and I’ll try to make it short.
If someone wanted to start their own oilfield service company and DOT authority is there any specific insurance required outside the already in place requirements for having your own authority?
Or would your potential customers have their own coverage they like to see and that would be your basis for coverage above the minimum to get their business.
For example, you talk to business A about say, hauling for a pipeline. They say we require X amount of coverage and if you don’t have it you don’t get their business.
For the sake of argument let’s say NON PLACARD/ NON HAZMAT freight.

Actually I think I’ve gotten my answer already. Made a couple phone calls but if anyone still wants to answer or chime in I don’t mind.
Basically the gist I got is how much you need Is covered under your MSA.Last edited: Jun 24, 2019

I think a lot of it is also what you’ll be doing/hauling/etc.
