I want to buy my own truck, however the trucks in my price range and meet the ELD requirement all seem to have major engine issues. There doesn't seem to be any companies that hire drivers with ELD exempt trucks. I was thinking of buying an ELD exempt truck get my own authority and pull loads from the boards. What money I loose on decreased fuel mileage would be made up with less repairs and down time. Feel free to pick apart this idea...thanks..

I bet there are still companies that will lease pre eld trucks, not the bigger ones, but who wants to work for them any way.
As time goes on, I suspect them to get fewer and fewer. I know of at least two companies that have started restoring older trucks them selves.
