I've driven a 379, 386 a columbia and a T2000. Exactly how is there "more room" in a 379 vs any newer aero truck?

All depends on the size of the sleeper. The 379 I am currently running has a 64 inch bunk on it. Gives me more then a foot of space between the bed and the curtain and a slightly larger bed then a supersingle. Supersingle sheets are too small and full sized sheets are a tad too wide.

The 386s that they have been buying have a much shallower sleeper on them. about 6 or so inches between the bed and the curtain and the bed is much narrower about the width of a childs single sized bed. When I lay on the bed I am tight up against the wall and my arm is almost hanging off the side of the bed. Small narrow closets also. Very little storage in them for overnight stuff.

The Prostars that we have have even less floor space between the bed and the curtain and the beds are very narrow also. The closets in them are not very wide either, about all you can hang in them are a couple T shirts. The Prostars that we have do not have curtains that go completely around the cab blocking off the windshield and side windows. I have yet to find curtains in any of the local truckstops to add to a truck either since I have been looking to find some for the 379 I am running due to my closterphobia issues that I have.

Now the Prostar does have a wide cab which I actually hate since I use the passenger seat to hold clip boards and other things I might need during the day. Put your thermos on the floor and go around a curve or something and you have to stop to reach it again. I perfer the narrow cabs because of some of these things.

    This does look nice though.

Well it's good that you have some choice in what they buy, or that they at least listen to you. At our place, the college educated owners son, who couldn't pick out a decent class8 truck from a choice of 1on a sunny day, supposedly knows everything that you need to know about what would work out best for us. No imput from drivers, or anybody else.

We've been going through the same nightmare since 10. Genius' at top started off with Prostars with the built in apu that were 3000 ponds heavier than out 9400's and were a total POS. 2011 models deleted the apu but were still junk. We have 3 2012 pigstars that are constantly broke with electronics probs. Now we're getting Macks and soon Vulvas.... all with small bunks.

The money that's been wasted on garbage trucks is staggering. The damage done to out rep by constant breakdowns, etc is sickening and has cost us 2 good accounts.

Screw the truck stops. Search for window curtains on ebay. I picked up a set for the t600 I was driving for $34. They hook on the visors in a pretty much universal way. The ones I have would probably fit your truck too.

The last good aero trucks they built were the Freightliner FLD. Dad was in business 45 years as an O/O and his last 06' Coronado broke him! The FLD could be spec'd out nice for O/O standards and was still built right where it mattered. These new trucks are just throwaways! All this stuff they are adding to them now is just a technology nightmare. I believe on his last truck he went through 6 turbos in 5 years all because the wastegates where leaking boost and they had to be reconfigured in a precise factory lab back with Detroit! 3406E, now that was an engine.... million miles on reg. maint. was the norm.

Well... I picked up my new company truck yesterday in Houston; 2012 Mack Pinnacle with the automatic. It's an ok truck, BUT it's on the fritz already at 350 miles. Dang thing surges bad unless you're to the floor. Picture a kid at their first time behind the wheel (Roar, brake, roar, brake). You don't even have to touch the dang pedal. Pitiful.:biggrin_25513:

Not only does this make the driver (me) look like a complete rookie but it's dangerous with 45000 lbs of liquid chemical on. The resulting surge could very easy roll the whole rig.

The "display" is showing the icon for "electronic problem". Really, mr high tech computer, ya think??? Piece of hi-tech junk is what I think.
