Going to Swift Oreintation Monday actually start on Tuesday the 16th in Columbus. OH. I also had a prehire with Conway but Swift is going to start me 4 cents a mile higher on the mile. Anyone else going that way let me know. They said I will be done the 17th looking forward to rolling again, I've been working for a company that is shutting the doors. I have enjoyed reading the threads on here. I would like to find a dedicated run eventually but will work OTR at first, hopefully not much North east but I'd say I will get my fair share lol. Any feedback will be cool, everyone be safe!!![]()

I finished my 2 day orientation in Columbus, OH. and will get my truck tomorrow Friday, hopefully I will get a load going West or South I would hate to start with a load to the North East. Orientation was boring especially the films. We started with 15 drivers and everyone made it thru thankfully 13 students and 2 experinced.
They have already offered me a dedicated run with Sears but I must work 30 days OTR first so that may be a good deal not sure. Anyone out there on a Sears dedicated any feedback would be appreciated. I will post more about what loads I get as soon as I can. Everyone stay safe!!rookietrucker Thanks this. -
Hey Lone, I was just in Columbus wednesday and thursday. I just finished with my training and tested out on the 17th, took the Sim class and log class and got my first truck and load that evening. Unfortunately, I never made it out of the terminal that night. First, my truck wouldn't build any air pressure, then after waiting 3 hours to get in the shop, they discovered there was oil in the coolant. So I sleep in the truck over night and tell my DM in the morning. Got a new truck and a new load and sitting at home right now for some home time.
Good luck to you.JustSonny Thanks this. -
440RT did you take the "road ready" class? They give you tools and supplies that are yours to keep after 6 months. I want to take that one.

Not yet. From my understanding, that is only available in Phx. But, yes, I do plan on taking that class. Anytime you get free stuff it's a good thing!

Two things my mentor taught me is have a pressure gauge in your door pocket incase the DOT asks if you checked the tires. Also wipe the front hub when doing your pretrip, it shows you actually checked the oil level.

So far so good I got a good truck one of the Volvo's. I came out of Paris, TX. today and dropped at the Memphis yard, hopefully get out of here in the morning. Everyone be safe!

I`m hopefully heading to Columbus for orientation on the 20th. Anyone care to comment a little more in depth on how it went there? When I spoke to the recruiter she said it would be a 2 day class and then out with a mentor for 2 weeks since I have 4 1/2 months recent experience. Hopefully that`s all it`ll be cause I`ve already been out with a trainer before. And what is their "academy" ? Is that like their school to get your CDL?
