The company just put up a podcast on their account called On Tour Logistics (OTL). The podcast explains it's a division of AVRT that specializes in hauling freight for music tours, entertainment industry production, trade shows, etc. The podcasts explains you may be out 5-6 weeks and the pay is salary per week rather than mileage or hourly.
If anyone knows about this OTL, I'd like to know what is a day/week like with them? Are your only duties driving or also pushing freight on/off the truck? Is it well organized or are most decisions left for the driver to negotiate? OTL requires HazMat and passport as trips to Canada are likely.
On Tour Logistics (OTL) account drivers here?

I have done the job before when I lived in Illinois so I do have knowledge of the job
99% on the shows are union and all you do is drive the truck. Teamsters usually unload and load the truck and once it hit the dock stagehands take it from there. A lot of the tours have catering on them so you can eat for free and what food I had was pretty dam good.
there shouldn't be any hazmat required but you will need a passport and maybe a twic card to get into Canada
I know once a tour starts you are on it till it ends with no hometime. I know I like seeing my wife more often than that
most of your driving will be at night and you will sleep mostly in the daytime
there is no interaction with the stars, you start trying to be a rock star and you wont be around long -
My Dedicated account is one of the lowest paying with the company & I'm looking for variety. I've done OTR for some years and mostly liked it, except for the waiting for backhauls and being "late" even before I was dispatched. I already work nights nowand like it, and I have no pressing needs to be home except to shower, sleep, eat which I do well when I was OTR. I'm home daily now, but work 6 days, or work 5 available on the 6th, except for 2 10 days shutdowns each year. The drivers on the podcast sounded positive and my biggest concern was handling freight. I suspected I PROBABLY wouldn't handle freight, for the reasons you mentioned. I've worked plenty of jobs around celebrities. I've already met the only heroes that impress me, a test pilot and and astronaut or two. Everyone else is either a face you've seen or not seen, BFD.
The podcast mentioned going EVERYWHERE & Canada. Done it before. Other than Rocky Mtns in the winter I've already done those things. I've been to NYC and Philly & Boston with virtually no help from past employers. -
