    Just getting into flats.
Is chain/binder theft a big issue?
I know enclosed keeps your stuff dry and locked, but I see a LOT of open racks out here

Well, just try to be wise. About where you park and etc...

I don’t put binders outside, I will chains. Try to park by van and reefer trailers they have no need for your stuff

Just use rusty chains and snap binders and nobody will walk away with your stuff.

Not really. Iv'e had binders stolen before. It was the guy right next to me securing his load that took them. I set them out on the deck so they would be ready when I came around that side of the trailer... the other guy snatched them up right before he took off.

Some people are really pathetic. :D

Tarps are usually the go-to item for theft.

All my stuff is under lock & key, unless it’s securing something on the deck. That being said, I had 2 2” straps stolen off my deck last week at the Loves in Sweetwater, TX.

I use 2” to secure my dunnage, PVC pipe for stripping loads, my ladder.

When I went to bed there was a dump trailer on one side, a reefer on the other. Can’t see them snatching them, the dump was gone when I got up so I assume it was a walk-by or another truck that parked there temporarily after the dump left.

I have most of my stuff secured on the top deck behind the sleeper, should hear if someone releases the straps on those. I had a couple of 2” x 8” x 8’ oak saddles with chocks for the tanks we haul & a 40’ long piece of stripping secured along the bottom & rear deck. Whoever it was, was smart enough to grab the ones towards the rear.

The shame of it is, if they would’ve ask, I probably would have given them a couple to help them out. Now I hope karma is the b1t€h I hear she is.

Ran open racks the whole time I pulled skateboards and the only thing that ever walked on me was tarps(3 times)

Unless the thief goes & buys me some tarps, that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about walking away.
