Ready to graduate and lose this Bobcat label! Have Hazmat, Tanker and Doub/Trips Wanna be a Yanker or a Flats guy! Got some final offers to drive-all pay decent and school reimburse so lets say all are equal. Def want to stay a year-CTL and CL (Comcar), Schneider Bulk, Melton, Cypress. Prefer regional/home weekly-all offer but Melton (21/3 home). Well?
Would really like to hear your take, China

I've always been a huge fan of Schneider. A big company is where you need to be when starting out. You'll make mistakes, they'll ease you into things, and they won't ask you to do anything illegal.
Now if you wait two minutes someone will dispute everything I just said because their friend's sister's cousin's adopted mother heard something 8 years ago while in the bathroom stall at the hooklovetwodrive Thanks this. -
You will hit things that don't move, generally attached to other things that are really important. You will get fired and then try to hire on with someone else. Maybe you will find that it's tough to hire on at all out of school. And finally one day Dispatch will have you deliver into Timbuktu far far away with 3 hours left on your working day before you have to legally stop for your time in sleeper berth. If you don't say no and get a new appt time, you will be at risk of dismissal for being late.
I hate to be difficult. But many people go into trucking thinking one thing and end up out within a year for these and other reasons.
Finally but not least, if you have people in your private live involved in any way with legal or medical pot etc (Or relatives using pain medicines etc) get rid of them. They are literally a liability and a threat to your ability to continue using your CDL without a positive drug test. One hot test will take you out of the industry quickly.Oldironfan Thanks this. -

And for the drugs and druggies, I’m good. Only druggie in my House was my youngest daughter, and she gave up the weed and became a surgical RN. -
Im not your opponet or adversary. Each of us have a unique life story and not all are as lucky I would imagine. I have seen too many casualties over the years and would like everyone going through all of this to get going in trucking not to have trouble.
There are good things to trucking around the USA. For me it's the people and the food as well as history in all the places we go. Learn something every day. Many other kinds of employers work around problems and mistakes. Trucking is less tolerant in my experience.
In addition to planning and powerthrough, I will suggest being able to go off the textbook and write your own solution to a unique problem sometimes. Risk Management would be the most powerful asset here.
Good luck, and we look forward to many stories from you in time.lovetwodrive Thanks this. -
Just sayin....bottomdumpin, lovetwodrive, Bob Dobalina and 1 other person Thank this. -
