I know the input shaft splines are different .. But wondering what you really get for the extra money....

Got the 1850/18 with a 2050 eaton clutch. And I've got to baby it .

When I upgrade it's going to be 2250 all the way threw. And when ever I bring this up my parts guys have a deer in the head lights look on their face.

    Hahaha!
I mean it just occurs to me - this is a parts guy. He might have or have had a CDL. He might even used to truck (guessing not). This guy knows what you do in THEORY, tho...he's miles ahead of any other civilian, sure...But knowing the rigors of hauling a heavy load up/down 5 in southern Oregon? Or elsewhere? Doubt it.
Again, this is just how it strikes me. I could be way off LOL

I baby mine. Had all kinds of problems when I had this engine finished. She went through a spell where she would crack oem air coolers. Had to shove the biggest radiator tbat would fit under the hood to keep her cool. Had to get a custom clutch as she would glaze a 2250.

Thought the tranny was going out again on i68. The only place around that works on trannies and is the parts supplier for the area had never even seen a 2250.

What kind of weight are you pulling with the 1850?

My KW salesperson also tells me there's a 20k front axle option (nothing new) but with a single steering box... Which is new .

Interesting: as of early December peterbilt won't rate at 20k without twin steering boxes.
... Which, coupled with floats and a 304" wb sounded like a mother####er to drag a spread axle thru the boroughs.....
    Maybe I'm just a ##### tho -_-

I've got the 20,000 front with twin boxes and 244" wheel base and it steers like a battleship. I pulled the 425's off and put 11R's on and opened up the steering all that I could and it still sucks.
