buy an aluminum trailer so then you can use beer cans to re weld the cracks that will soon be near the suspension! hahahaha.Like the other driver said.If you make a u turn with a spead axle with a heavy load you can **** up the trailer, thats just common sense but steel is stronger though! Go with wilson or utility, mac is good too! Before buying new,buy a used one,its cheaper, Just dont buy an aluminum trailer used.

I keep hearing how steel is stronger but have yet to see anyone show me an "off the lot" steel flat rated for 80k in 4' with a 2 axle 10' spread. I wouldn't worry about buying an aluminum trailer used. They're no different than a steel or combo flat, all three can be junk depending on how they were treated.

Can you still use the soft side kits on an arch like that?

If I can't dump 35-tons on the deck without it bowing, I'm not interested.

I see that this thread is a little old, but I am interested with the new materials and technologies what every one thinks 5 years later. After reviewing the general consensus thus far Mac seems to be the favorite. What would you guys look to have in a new or used flat for general flatbed freight? What would you buy new / used for your operations? Is the weight savings of an all aluminum a must to snag more loads to stay competitive? Look forward to every ones input.
