Rather or not it's faster is very debatable because the speed limit on 97 is 60 miles an hour now. It's just that you're less likely to hit slow traffic during the summer months on I-5 but I do agree it's still a really nice drive

I used to love running that way until GPS ruined it about 5 years ago bringing more idiots than ever before.. good old chemult great truckstop Down by K falls Mollies was a great place to get drunk and have fun..or sometimes stopping to that little Exxon at the state line at Worden have a beer there and go to bed..
then on down through weed back on to five or vice versa.. 97 was always I preferred it over 5. -

I got curious the difference in mileage from Weed California to Biggs Junction Oregon. It is an extra 110 miles to go up I-5 to 84 then to just stay on Highway 97.
